My name is Glen
Johnson. A long time ago, I learned that you can either
do a lot of things poorly, or one thing really well.
That’s why for the past 10 years I’ve dedicated
my business to shooting weddings, and ONLY weddings
and I don't try to do every sort of photos imaginable.
It's kinda like,
if you need a dentist to fix your tooth, would you pick
one that "specialized" in heart surgery, and
brain surgery, and pediatrics, and ear/nose/throat,
and orthodontics, and finally Dentistry? I don't think
so! Photography is the same way. If you really care,
(and you must if you're reading this) then you should
be looking at photographers who specialize in the business
of WEDDINGS!
My style and my
goal is to be a storyteller. I shoot what I see, and
I come to each wedding with my mind totally open - no
expectations of what we can or can't do in a wedding
photo.
Every wedding is
unique... the setting and the story are completely different
each time, so to me, the true art of wedding photography
is in the photographer’s ability to capture that
story, and do so with a bit of creativity and flair
that you will be proud to show off. I want to create
a story that your great, great grandchildren will enjoy
hearing about long after you're gone.
I suppose I've
been drawn to wedding photography because I love people
and I thrive on the creative challenge of doing something
different every day. I truly enjoy meeting new people,
seeing new cultures and new places, and most of all,
I really do enjoy the fact that wedding photography
allows me to slip into your world for a day. I love
that I get to be a witness, and a recorder, and a friend
in this incredible moment of a new couple's life.
If you hire me for
your wedding day, I get to be the fly on the wall. I
get to be there in the dressing room standing in the
bathtub to get a shot as you put on your makeup, and
as the best man tightens the groom's tie. I get to be
there behind the altar as you slide that ring on his
finger... and I get to walk with you both on the beach,
or tromping through the woods and up to the top of the
mountain in our search for that perfect photo op.
I might be the one
whispering tips in your ear about how to put on the
veil, or how to hold the knife to cut the cake, and
I've even had the honor of signing as a witness on several
marriage licenses, because there was nobody else around.
And throughout the
day or days that we work together, it would not be at
all unusual for us to become very real friends.

My style and my goal
is to be a storyteller. I shoot what I see, and I come
to each wedding with my mind totally open - no expectations
of what we can or can't do in a wedding photo.
There are no rules
here.
Every wedding is unique,
the setting is always new and the story is completely
unique each time.
To me, the true art
of wedding photography is in the photographer’s
ability to capture that story, and do so with a bit of
creativity and flair that you will be proud to show off.
My primary style
of shooting during most of the wedding day, is photojournalistic.
I prefer to hang back in the background quietly documenting
everything I see. But during the family group time, I'm
not shy - years of substitute teaching and working as
a rafting guide (prior to becoming a photographer) taught
me a lot about how to wrangle a crowd, so organizing everyone
for a couple group shots will not be a problem.
In the evening, or
whenever we can sneak away from the crowd, I love the
challenge of working with you in a creative collaboration
to make a few dramatic portraits.
Over the past 10 years I’ve photographed hundreds
of weddings in the US and about 50
destination weddings outside the US, in locations
such as Jamaica, Mexico, the Bahamas, Aruba, Hawaii, Barbados,
Tortola, St. John, St. Thomas, St. Lucia, the Dominican
Republic, Greece, Italy, Fiji, Tahiti, and Hong Kong....
Whew! And the list keeps growing all the time as couples
surprise me with new destinations I’ve never even
heard of.
I can't say enough thanks to the couples I've met and
worked with along the way. So many of you have adopted
me into your family for the day (or days), and your kindness,
and the adventures we've shared together, will never be
forgotten. It has been such an honor to be chosen to record
your wedding day.
If you look through
a few of my slideshows and find yourself either smiling
or crying, pick up the phone and let's talk.
I can't wait to meet
you!
