Hawaii Wedding photographer
Searching for the perfect wedding photographer for your Hawaian wedding
?

My name is Glen Johnson. A long time ago, I learned that you can either do a lot of things poorly, or one thing really well. That’s why for the past 10 years I’ve dedicated my business to shooting weddings, and ONLY weddings.

My style and my goal is to be a storyteller. I come to each wedding with my mind totally open - no expectations of what can or can't be done in a wedding photo and no expectations of how the story of your day will unfold itself.

Every wedding is unique... the setting and the story are completely different each time, so to me, the true art of wedding photography is in the photographer’s ability to capture the uniqueness of each couple's story. If I can do it with a bit of creativity and flair, all the better. My goal is to create a visual story that will amaze and entertain your family and friends long into the future.

I suppose I've been drawn to wedding photography because I love people and I thrive on the creative challenge of doing something different every day. I truly enjoy meeting new people, seeing new cultures and new places, and most of all, I really do enjoy the fact that wedding photography allows me to slip into someone else's world for a day. I love that I get to be a witness, and a recorder, and a friend in this incredible moment of a new couple's life.

If you hire me for your wedding day, I get to be the fly on the wall. I get to be there in the dressing room standing in the bathtub to get a shot as you put on your makeup, and as the best man tightens the groom's tie. I get to be there behind the altar as you slide that ring on his finger... and I get to walk with you both on the beach, or tromping through the woods and up to the top of the mountain in our search for that perfect photo op.

I might be the one whispering tips in your ear about how to put on the veil, or how to hold the knife to cut the cake, and I've even had the honor of signing as a witness on several marriage licenses, because there was nobody else around.

None of your wedding vendors will follow you around as closely as your photographer. And in the day or days that we work together, it would not be at all unusual for us to become very real friends.

My primary style of shooting during most of the wedding day, is photojournalistic. I prefer to hang back in the background quietly documenting everything I see.

During the family group time, I'm not shy - years of substitute teaching and working as a rafting guide (prior to becoming a photographer) taught me a lot about how to wrangle a crowd, so organizing everyone for a couple group shots will not be a problem.

In the evening, or whenever we can sneak away from the crowd, I love the challenge of working with you in a creative collaboration to make a few dramatic couple portraits.

Over the past 10 years I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings in the US and about 50 destination weddings outside the US, in locations such as Jamaica, Mexico, the Bahamas, Aruba, Hawaii, Barbados, Tortola, St. John, St. Thomas, St. Lucia, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Italy, Fiji, Tahiti, and Hong Kong.... Whew! And the list keeps growing all the time as couples surprise me with new destinations I’ve never even heard of. Frequently I'll get a call from a new bride and I'll say, "sure I can meet you there!" then I'll run back to my computer and get on Google maps to see where it is. You brides never cease to amaze me with your cool choices of locations.

I can't say enough thanks to the couples I've met and worked with along the way. So many of you have adopted me into your family for the day (or days), and your kindness, and the adventures we've shared together, will never be forgotten. It has been such an honor to be chosen to record your wedding day.

You new brides.... If you look through a few of my slideshows in the links above and find yourself either smiling or crying, pick up the phone and let's talk.

My prices, contract and my calendar can be found
in the links above as well.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Glen

I have shot weddings on many of the Hawaiian Islands.

Two of them are featured in the slideshow links above.

Newest Slideshow from a wedding in Amalfi, Italy.    9.9.09

I have recently been invited to be a on the review board for this new group.

Best of Wedding Photography will be the most selective group of wedding photographers in the world. There are many great wedding photography sites and associations. What sets Best of Wedding Photography apart from the rest is our unique, peer-reviewed, invitation-only membership system. Each quarter, our editorial staff submits a list of outstanding photographers to a Review Board. This panel includes some of the best and best-known photographers in the world:

David Beckstead. Glen Johnson. Anna Kuperberg. Crash Taylor. David Ziser.

Every invitation we issue represents a consensus that a given photographer ranks among the absolute best wedding photographers in the world.

Being invited in on the ground floor of this organization is an incredible honor and I have thoroughly enjoyed having the ability to add in my thoughts and ideas about how to make this organization represent the cream of the crop in the wedding photography world. Over the next few months I will be one of three people voting on each photographer to determine the original list of photographers to invite. The pressure is on! Yikes!

I've uploaded a selection of slideshows to YouTube.
If you get a chance to look at them, please take a moment to rate the video.

Glen,

We received the wedding photos a couple days ago and are truly ecstatic with them. From past brides, and looking over your website, we knew that they would turn out good; however they have far surpassed our expectations. There is something so special when you actually get to see your self as the "bride & groom." The images that you captured have are a priceless gift, one that we both will cherish for many years to come.

While we panicked that we ran out of time to do all of the group photos, your photo-journalistic style captured our wedding party and family as they really are. Showing their many emotions from tears to laughter, something that takes a special photographer to capture. Words can't express how much we appreciate you being apart of our wedding, and giving us the best wedding gift of all...your talent.

Our advice to future brides: Don't shy away because of the cost of Glen's work. You won't remember what the cake tasted like, nor what wine you served. Your photographs are what lasts a lifetime...and Glen's work is worth the memories that you will continue to cherish for many years.

Thank you Glen for all of your hard work on our wedding day!

Sincerely,

Miklyn & Josh Perdu
